JD — the work

About the role

You would own the decision-making layer of an autonomous platform that runs live ad campaigns with real budgets: what to bid, where to move spend, and what to pause or scale. Other engineers build the platform tooling; your job is the decisions themselves, and each one is judged by the return it produces. The team is small and on-site in San Francisco, and the role suits engineers who are always experimenting with something new.

What you'll do

  • Build scoring and recommendation logic for bids, budget moves, pausing or boosting campaigns, and postbacks
  • Create the feedback loop that lets results compound into better campaign strategy over time
  • Write optimization policies that cope with noisy, real-time data, from simple rules to post-training and reinforcement learning
  • Coordinate several agents that share campaign context and collaborate, and assess the quality of their work
  • Own the outcome: the quality of each decision and the return on ad spend, not simulation or platform plumbing

What they're looking for

  • 3+ years of experience building ML or decision systems that run in production
  • Strong Python and comfort working with noisy, live data
  • Experience with recommendation, scoring, or optimization systems
  • Familiarity with reinforcement learning, post-training, or orchestrating multiple agents
  • Comfort being measured on outcomes tied to real money
