About the role
First forward-deployed hire at a fast-growing YC-backed AI startup automating document-heavy workflows in the commodities industry. You'd own customer deployments end to end — technical PM, onboarding lead, and customer champion in one — taking each account from sales handoff to stable production.
What you'll do
- Own the onboarding lifecycle: customers live in production within the first weeks of a paid pilot
- Act as technical PM per account: bridge engineering and customer stakeholders, keep deployments unblocked
- Configure and tune AI agents and workflows to each customer's operational data and logic
- Build tooling that lets future FDEs and customers onboard faster
- Lead kickoffs, progress reviews, and training across SMB to enterprise, with up to ~30% travel for enterprise accounts
What they're looking for
- 3+ years in customer-facing engineering (FDE, solutions, implementation), ideally early-stage
- Proven multi-deployment project management
- Daily AI-tool fluency — you automate your own work, not just talk about it
- Technically credible: Python or TypeScript, APIs, data flows
- San Francisco based, in-office 4 days/week
