About the role
You would architect and ship the live software that governs how materiel, gear, and other essential resources move across large, complicated military supply networks. The company, a fast-growing defense tech startup with a recent Series A, works embedded with US military units and is replacing manual tracking with live, AI-assisted logistics software. The role is on-site in the Washington DC area.
What you'll do
- Own the backend services behind distribution, covering route planning, dispatching, shipments, and replanning on the fly
- Express real military logistics processes in Go as event-driven services, APIs, and long-lived domain models
- Reconcile inventory, demand, transport capacity, and constraints across networks, including degraded or contested conditions
- Fold optimization and planning outputs into operational software as dependable, executable workflows
- Sit with service members and logistics specialists to find high-leverage problems and turn loosely defined needs into software that scales
What they're looking for
- 7+ years building distributed or backend systems, with meaningful ownership of software in production
- Built production systems for supply chain, fulfillment, transport, or another complex operations domain
- Strong programming in Go or a comparable high-performance language such as C++, Java, or Rust
- Deep distributed systems knowledge, including messaging, asynchronous work, state management, service architecture, and failure handling
- Track record leading complex projects on your own, from an unclear problem to deployment and operations
