JD — the work
About the role
You would take full ownership of hard consumer data areas, turning noisy raw inputs into reliable data products that the sales team can start selling right away. The job blends applied data science with data engineering: the platform team builds the infrastructure, and you fill it with valuable data products. It suits someone who reasons from first principles and always asks what a dataset actually represents. Senior hires and exceptional early-career candidates are both welcome.
What you'll do
- Dig into big, unfamiliar datasets to learn their grain, joins, and coverage, then model them into lasting domain structures
- Ship your work to production through transformation and ingestion pipelines, with backfills, monitoring, and validation built in
- Hunt for and assess new data sources, work out what they add, and pull useful signal out of noisy inputs
- Own deep knowledge of specific domains like property records, identity resolution, or consumer intent
- Work with customer-facing staff, platform engineers, and data scientists to convert fuzzy business questions into products that scale and sell
What they're looking for
- 2+ years of data engineering experience; senior candidates are also considered
- Experience with parts of the stack: Python, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Spark, Airflow, and AWS
- Curiosity about what data represents in the world and a habit of reasoning from first principles
- Strong early-career applicants from leading university programs who learn fast are encouraged to apply
- Willingness to work on-site in New York
