JD — the work
About the role
You would bring environmental planning expertise to an AI-first team that handles permitting and diligence work, checking deliverables on real-world power projects and other infrastructure, digging into open regulatory questions, and feeding what you learn back into the product so the system improves. The work is hands-on and production-focused, at a quick-moving startup backed by venture investors. It is a chance to leave the traditional consulting track and help create a role that has not existed before.
What you'll do
- QA customer deliverables such as permit reviews, critical issue screens, and environmental analyses before they go out
- Dig into unanswered permitting and environmental questions using official agency, planning, and regulatory sources at every level of government
- Scrutinize what the AI produces and fix any conclusion that lacks support, leaves gaps, or could mislead
- Improve the product's logic and its underlying rules database by drafting prompts, revising rules, and specifying fixes for engineering
- Assess candidate sites for energy developments, flagging land-use, permitting, and environmental risk for customer due diligence
What they're looking for
- 2 to 5 years of professional experience in environmental planning or consulting
- Working knowledge of environmental review and permitting under city, county, state, and federal rules
- Care for accuracy and proper citation in written deliverables
- Interest in working with AI tools and moving beyond a traditional consulting career
