JD — the work
About the role
This is the company's first hire dedicated entirely to quality infrastructure, and the work is software engineering rather than traditional QA. You would treat the testing and release machinery as your product: agent-run test harnesses, grading logic, CI health, automated release checks, deployment, and staging environments. The goal is a green build people can trust, safe upgrades, and uneventful releases. It is not a manual-testing or gatekeeping job, and after-hours on-call belongs to a separate function; the role is remote across the US and Canada.
What you'll do
- Spend most days coding: harnesses, CI, release checks, and LLM agents that run and score the test suite
- Devote roughly 70% to AI-driven verification, making test results reliable through LLM graders, regression suites, and automatic gating
- Find and close the holes that currently let bugs reach customers
- Dedicate about 30% to shipping mechanics: CI health, publishing artifacts, the release process, and dependable demo and staging setups
- Replace gut-feel release approvals with automated checks that show readiness and stop risky builds with evidence
- Take part in daytime escalations like any senior engineer, and cut both incident frequency and time to diagnose
What they're looking for
- 7 to 15 years of software engineering experience
- Strong coding skills in Python and TypeScript, since this is engineering rather than manual QA
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
- Interest in using LLM agents and graders to automate testing and evaluation
- Located in the US or Canada for this remote role
