About the role
You would be the first technical hire, building an AI-native consumer bank from nothing. The product aims to act on people's behalf, helping them pay off debt sooner and manage cash flow, and it is still pre-product, so you would make every technical call, from architecture and stack choice onward, taking the product from early prototype to its first launch. The founder has deep experience advising financial institutions, and the role can grow into leading engineering as the company expands.
What you'll do
- Ship the first version across mobile, web, and backend, covering secure AI infrastructure and money movement
- Connect banking-as-a-service providers, payment rails, and KYC/AML vendors to power accounts, cards, and loans
- Choose cloud providers and shape the system and data design, with resilience built in from the start
- Create AI agents that act on real financial decisions using predictable, traceable rules and built-in compliance checks
- Establish engineering standards the future team will inherit, while directing a group of contractors
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Strong zero-to-one track record building new products from scratch
- Proven ability to run production systems where real money moves
- Full-stack range across TypeScript, React, and Python, plus cloud experience on GCP, AWS, or Azure
- Hybrid work from New York or San Francisco
