JD — the work
About the role
As a founding forward deployed engineer, you would spend time alongside provider and payer teams, watch how their work actually happens, and ship full-stack fixes quickly. The split is roughly 60 to 70% building and 30 to 40% with customers: find what is broken, fix it, and deploy, often within a day. You would partner closely with the CEO and the founding engineer, turning tangled healthcare workflows into clean product that lets payers pay providers almost instantly.
What you'll do
- Observe how customers handle claims, denials, prior authorizations, and payments, then ship features that fix the friction
- Run the engineering, product, and design loop on your own, from spotting a problem to deploying the fix
- Debug live problems in payer portals, clinical charts, claims, and work queues, frequently fixing them the same day
- Visit customer locations as needed to learn the product context firsthand and improve how deployments land
- Build and refine features across the stack, backend first, from pilot stage through expansion after signing
What they're looking for
- 3+ years of software engineering experience, strongest on the backend
- Full-stack ability to take a feature from customer conversation to production on your own
- Comfort spending 30 to 40% of your time directly with healthcare customers
- Python proficiency and a habit of shipping at high speed
- Readiness to work on-site in San Francisco and travel to customers when needed
