JD — the work
About the role
As one of the first engineers, you would build the platform underneath the company's AI agents and its customer experience: its data flows, APIs, integrations, and the operator console. The team's view is that the lasting advantage comes less from the model and more from the software around it, the plumbing that connects AI with outside systems and keeps it dependable. You would join a team of about five, working in person in New York, on a product that replaces spreadsheets and email threads for wholesale operators.
What you'll do
- Own customer-facing features from first conversations with users through design, build, and launch
- Model data so it stays secure and auditable, and build the event-driven pipelines agents rely on
- Build APIs for internal and partner use, plus a live console where customers track their operations
- Integrate natively with ERPs, logistics providers, retailers, and freight carriers, backed by a fault-tolerant sync layer
- Put monitoring, service-level objectives, and on-call in place, since failures here mean late shipments and chargebacks
- Move between frontend, backend, and data work depending on where the biggest problem sits
What they're looking for
- 2 to 6 years building software, comfortable on both frontend and backend
- Fluency in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
- Working knowledge of AWS or GCP cloud infrastructure
- Comfort talking directly with customers and turning their problems into shipped features
- Willingness to work on-site in New York with a very small founding team
