About the role
You would be the company's first full-time designer, joining a pre-seed hiring platform for hardware engineering teams, reporting to a co-founder and owning its visual language and UX from scratch. The platform serves three groups, hiring teams, engineers who evaluate, and candidates, and has grown quickly without anyone owning design. What you design will decide how top hardware talent gets assessed at well-known hardtech customers.
What you'll do
- Study how hiring teams, engineers, and candidates each use the product and pinpoint where it fails them
- Separate interface friction from genuine question difficulty in candidate assessments
- Create a single coherent design system and fix the inconsistencies that built up while the team shipped quickly
- Use product analytics and session recordings to find what works and turn insights into design changes
- Partner with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams so assessments and dashboards feel like one product
- Rebuild the company website before it launches, covering site structure, look and feel, and the frontend code
What they're looking for
- 2 to 4 years of product design experience
- Strong design taste paired with genuine technical fluency
- Comfort shipping frontend work yourself, with Figma and TypeScript in your toolkit
- Ability to move quickly at a scrappy startup that ships constantly
- Comfort using product data to guide design decisions
