JD — the work
About the role
A generalist engineering seat on a small, well-funded team using AI to process insurance claims. You would push code to production from your first day, write your own specs, and carry features from idea to delivery. The work ranges from rolling out AI use cases alongside customers to building core infrastructure, keeping a growing codebase healthy, and helping hire the next engineers. Teammates include engineers from top trading firms and AI companies, plus published ML researchers.
What you'll do
- Deploy code to production starting on day one and stand behind what you ship
- Write specs, work through ambiguity, and build features across the full stack
- Roll out AI use cases together with customers and integrate them into client systems
- Design core infrastructure and keep the codebase healthy as usage grows
- Turn client feedback into fast iterations that produce measurable results for the business
- Take part in hiring your future teammates
What they're looking for
- At least 1 year of professional software engineering experience
- Comfort across Python, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, and REST or GraphQL APIs
- Familiarity with LLM frameworks, vector databases, Docker, and major cloud providers
- Strong ownership: you figure things out and see features through without hand-holding
- Willingness to work closely with clients, on-site in San Francisco
