JD — the work
About the role
The firm runs an in-house platform for tracking portfolio companies, running fund operations, and reporting to limited partners, and this engineer owns and grows it. It is a highly autonomous individual contributor role: your users are the investment, finance, and investor relations teams, and there is no product manager between you and them. A large share of the work is using AI to take manual data entry and reconciliation off the team's plate.
What you'll do
- Maintain and grow the internal system for valuations, quarterly LP reports, and financial tracking across dozens of portfolio companies
- Use AI to automate intake of board decks, financial statements, and portfolio reporting now entered by hand
- Create tools that catch and resolve discrepancies when financial figures fail to reconcile
- Build LLM agents and custom MCP servers that answer investors' plain-English questions about deals and portfolio data
- Turn feedback from investors and finance staff into shipped features, released every quarter
What they're looking for
- 5+ years building production web applications; this is not an entry-level role
- Private-markets software experience with cap tables, dilution, valuations, or fund reporting, e.g. at a fund
- Production full-stack skills: Python services, PostgreSQL data modeling, and React with TypeScript
- Sharp data modeling and SQL skills, since much of the job is choosing how to represent messy fund data
- A hands-on IC who writes and ships code, not a manager or architecture-only profile
