About the role
This is an engineering seat inside a venture fund: you would build and run the firm's internal software while learning how venture investing works from the inside. Beyond the tooling, you would help investors assess the technology behind potential deals and help portfolio companies with technical hiring and hard engineering problems. It suits an entrepreneurial, hungry engineer who wants close exposure to founders, investors, and executives, with the option to spin out a company of your own later.
What you'll do
- Develop and run the firm's internal systems, including CRMs for deal sourcing and sales plus portfolio tracking
- Assess the technology behind prospective investments as part of diligence, alongside the investors
- Interview engineering candidates on behalf of portfolio startups
- Help fast-growing portfolio companies work through difficult engineering challenges
- Build relationships with founders, fellow investors, LPs, and senior operators while learning how startups are evaluated
What they're looking for
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Full-stack skills with Python, TypeScript, React, and GCP
- Strong credentials, typically a leading university and time at a well-regarded tech company
- An entrepreneurial, driven mindset and real curiosity about investing
- Willingness to work on-site in San Francisco or New York
