About the role
You would lead technically on the infrastructure behind the sequencing operation: compute, data, security, and AI. That spans the services that drive lab robots, sequencers, and on-prem servers, the pipelines that handle terabyte-scale sequencing data, and new AI infrastructure for agents that watch quality, coordinate logistics, and run bioinformatics analyses. The company began by making one core type of DNA sequencing far faster and cheaper through a global lab network, and is now bringing that model to the rest of genomics.
What you'll do
- Own core services orchestrating lab robots, sequencers, and on-prem Linux servers, plus data ingestion
- Design cloud storage and processing pipelines for terabyte-scale sequencing data, from intake to delivery
- Run bioinformatics work at the scale of millions of jobs using queues, schedulers, and workflow engines
- Build AI infrastructure for quality-monitoring agents that catch anomalies and escalate issues
- Enable logistics agents that route drivers and shipments between carriers and labs worldwide
- Support long-running coding agents that adapt bioinformatics analysis to varied and shifting sample types
What they're looking for
- 6+ years of backend or platform engineering experience, including technical leadership
- Depth in Python, AWS, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Experience with queues, workflow orchestration, and streaming tools such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Track record of taking unclear, cross-team projects all the way into production
- Curiosity about biology and eagerness to learn from scientists
- Clear communicator who enjoys mentoring and helping others grow
