About the role
You would own and harden the central system that processes customers' documents, making sure jobs finish quickly and reliably, models are served efficiently, and distributed systems stay cost-effective. The ideal person has worked on mature, high-scale systems, for example at a leading fintech, and wants to bring that rigor to a quickly scaling AI company. You would partner with the ML engineers and join the on-call rotation on a compact platform team.
What you'll do
- Make the document processing system faster, sturdier and cheaper to run as usage climbs
- Help the ML team run its own models efficiently and plug them into live processing flows
- Maintain and extend the underlying systems: cloud deployments, scheduling, orchestration of tasks and databases
- Resolve latency, scaling and reliability issues in distributed systems as traffic keeps increasing
- Carry on-call shifts and take responsibility for the platform's overall health
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of backend or platform engineering experience
- Time spent on mature, large-scale systems, ideally at a well-known high-scale fintech or similar
- Strong distributed systems skills, working in languages such as Python, Go or Rust
- Comfort serving ML models in production alongside ML engineers
- Willing to join on-call and work on-site full time
- High agency and exacting attention to detail
