JD — the work
About the role
A mid-to-senior product role at a Series B identity security startup, owning either of two strategic tracks: defining how large companies control what AI agents are allowed to touch, or developing AI agents that speed up results for customers. Your time splits roughly evenly between customers and go-to-market teams on one side and product planning with engineering on the other. The role is a possible path to succeeding the CPO as the company grows. It is hybrid in San Francisco.
What you'll do
- Devote roughly half your week to customers and the go-to-market team to test product direction
- Spend the other half on product planning: BRDs, requirements, KPIs, and roadmaps from two weeks to six months
- Partner with engineers every day on sprint planning, feature priority, and quality delivery under tight deadlines
- Reshape the roadmap from customer input and usage data, deciding firmly when to stop, pivot, or invest more
- Explain strategy, tradeoffs, and risks to cross-functional partners in crisp docs and decks
- Grow toward a product leadership role, potentially succeeding the CPO
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of product management for technical B2B software
- Track record of zero-to-one launches and turning around struggling products
- Comfort working directly with large, demanding enterprise customers
- Ability to collaborate deeply with engineers on technical architecture
Nice to have
- Domain knowledge in IAM, identity, or nearby security and infrastructure fields
