JD — the work
About the role
You would be a core builder in the firm's venture studio, turning vetted ideas into live products that people use, with a meaningful stake in the companies that result. The work means building agentic AI systems from zero through product-market fit, moving between very different ventures, and shaping what gets built alongside the studio's strategists and outside design partners. It suits an engineer from a leading quantitative trading firm or top tech company who has a strong entrepreneurial instinct, and the role is hybrid in New York or Chicago.
What you'll do
- Develop complete agent-based AI products, covering orchestration, retrieval, tool integrations, and the agents themselves
- Scope and launch each new venture's initial product, trimming it to the least that shows value, then harden it
- Pull reusable components and patterns out of every build so later ventures start further along
- Decide what to build together with design partners and the studio's product strategists
- Move between very different venture contexts and stay effective amid ambiguity
What they're looking for
- 3 to 7 years of experience, including 2 to 5+ years at a leading quantitative trading firm or a top-tier technology company
- Clear personal impact that stands apart from the systems your employer provided
- Production AI systems you shipped end to end, used by actual customers and tested by messy failures, not just demos
- Proof of entrepreneurial drive, such as founding a company, building something on the side, or leading an internal zero-to-one effort
- A top-university degree in a STEM field such as computer science, mathematics, or physics
- Commercial sense and ease working with customers, design partners, and non-technical colleagues
