About the role
You would own the complete testing setup for flight-critical avionics at a fast-growing hypersonics company, building the infrastructure yourself rather than running procedures someone else wrote. That means deciding how each board gets tested, designing the fixtures, cabling, test racks, and automation, choosing instrumentation, and growing the setup from early development to integrated vehicle testing and flight. The avionics are the vehicle's brain, and your job is confirming each board is sound before launch.
What you'll do
- Stand up full test setups, including hardware-in-the-loop rigs, ATE, cabling harnesses, fixtures, and racks
- Own testing from single components up to the integrated vehicle, covering flight computers, motor controllers, instrumentation units, and switches
- Automate and scale test procedures to keep pace with production growth
- Debug hardware anomalies, lead root-cause investigations, and feed results back to avionics designers
- Run qualification and environmental test campaigns, including vibration, thermal, and EMI, on flight hardware
What they're looking for
- 3 to 8 years of avionics or electronics test engineering
- Experience designing test architecture and selecting instrumentation, not only executing procedures
- Hands-on HIL, ATE, fixture, and harness design for flight or safety-critical hardware
- Test automation in Python, with working knowledge of C or C++
- Experience with environmental and qualification testing such as vibration, thermal, and EMI
