JD — the work
About the role
You would help rebuild the company's cash advance platform, taking it from a scrappy early system to one that can support hundreds of millions of dollars in originations. It is a generalist backend role: you start from a business goal and own the technical solution fully, spanning financial infrastructure, distributed services, internal tools, and data pipelines. The company builds its ledgers and payment systems in-house, rewards output and impact, and works on-site in Seattle.
What you'll do
- Rebuild the core ledger, transaction processing, and payment integrations to handle 5 to 10x more originations
- Build dependable collection systems that execute precise debits on thousands of small advances each day
- Ingest and process large volumes of partner-supplied customer bank data to drive underwriting and collections
- Use SQL and analytics to guide engineering choices, track system health, and confirm business results
- Run event-driven services on Pub/Sub with asynchronous processing
What they're looking for
- 2 to 5 years of engineering, with backend work making up half or more of your career
- A concrete business result you delivered with technology, beyond simply adding features
- Startup or high-growth experience (Series A or B preferred) and comfort with little direction
- Distributed, data-heavy backend experience; the stack is Go, MySQL, GCP, and Kubernetes
- Data-driven habits: writing SQL, building analyses, and steering by metrics in consumer fintech
- Willingness to work on-site full time in Seattle
