JD — the work
About the role
The team is reinventing lunch at work: it works with well-regarded neighborhood restaurants and batches large numbers of orders so companies can offer employees individually packed, high-quality meals with no delivery fees or tipping. You would design and grow the backend that runs its live logistics and operations, making the key technical calls from design to production on problems in routing, reliability, scale, and automation, and shaping how backend infrastructure grows with the business.
What you'll do
- Write and maintain solid backend services, mainly in Java and Go
- Drive large projects such as optimizing delivery routes and automating logistics workflows
- Be accountable for backend architecture and tackle hard, open-ended problems with big impact
- Grow the core services, data stores, and APIs that the web and mobile apps depend on
- Define standards for tests, monitoring, observability, and performance
- Plan each quarter's technical roadmap together with engineering and product leads
- Mentor teammates with technical guidance, pairing, and thoughtful reviews
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of backend engineering with strong Java or Go
- Comfortable owning architecture calls all the way to production
- Enjoys ambiguous problems and complex systems
- Cloud experience on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Collaborative style across mobile, frontend, ops, and product
