About the role
You would lead a small, growing backend and platform team that owns the company's core product backends, public APIs, and supporting services, plus the foundation that keeps them secure, dependable, and able to scale. The role mixes people leadership with technical depth: the right manager is still a hands-on backend engineer at heart who weighs in on architecture, guides design choices, and helps untangle hard systems problems. It is a remote position for candidates based in the US.
What you'll do
- Hire, grow, and lead the backend and platform engineers responsible for the core fraud products
- Run the team's planning and delivery, prioritizing for reliability and scale
- Set the long-term path for services and APIs, keeping them secure, quick, and easy to maintain
- Work with product, front-end, and data science to turn requirements and models into sturdy APIs
- Partner with infrastructure on observability, uptime, and developer tooling, and back up incident response to meet SLAs
- Coach engineers, keep the hiring bar high, and write code yourself when it helps
What they're looking for
- 6 to 10 years of experience, including time leading engineering teams
- Deep backend engineering skills and a wish to stay close to the technical work
- Experience designing API-driven systems and evolving platform architecture
- A strong bar for testing, code quality, and production operations
- Familiarity with Go, Python, React, PostgreSQL, Docker, OpenSearch, and AWS services like Lambda and Cognito
