JD — the work
About the role
You would help build the money-movement engine behind a fast-growing, two-sided trading-card marketplace, owning real-time payments infrastructure that handles large bank transfers rather than card payments. You would join a three-engineer payments pod, spend roughly 70% of your time on the Python backend and the rest in React and React Native, and help design the ledgers behind upcoming lending products. The role is remote within the US.
What you'll do
- Move thousands of high-value payments, many over six figures, through payment processor and bank integrations
- Build and maintain the marketplace's custom double-entry ledger
- Design new ledgers to support future lending and other financial products
- Split your time about 70/30 between Python backend work and React or React Native frontend work
- Join a three-engineer payments pod that takes work from a ticket queue
What they're looking for
- 3 to 5+ years of professional full-stack engineering, weighted toward the backend
- Strong Python backend skills plus React, React Native, or TypeScript on the frontend
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and AWS in a production setting
- Care for correctness in systems that move large sums of money
