JD — the work
About the role
You would own mechanical subsystems on the company's next robot platform, carrying each one from first concept all the way to a production release. The team is small, about 30 people, and moves fast, so the job needs someone who works hands-on with CAD, prototypes, and suppliers and who has pushed hardware past the prototype phase into volume manufacturing. Robotics experience helps but is optional; depth in complex electromechanical products matters more.
What you'll do
- Carry mechanical subsystems from requirements and CAD through prototypes, first-article inspection, and release
- Build manufacturability and ease of assembly into designs early, partnering with vendors and contract manufacturers as volumes grow
- Work across disciplines with controls, firmware, and electrical engineers to integrate the electromechanical system
- Own supplier relationships and day-to-day supply chain work for hardware parts
- Run structured validation tests, trace failures to root causes, and close out corrective actions
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering with designs you took from concept into production
- Hands-on experience with supplier qualification, CAD, prototyping, and DFM/DFA
- Background in complex electromechanical products: automotive, medical devices, consumer electronics, or industrial automation
- Production mindset and comfort owning work end to end on a small, fast team
Nice to have
- Prior experience designing hardware for robots or robotic systems
