JD — the work
About the role
A full-stack role that tilts toward the backend at a fast-growing legal tech startup modernizing US immigration. You would take features all the way from server design to the screens users touch, working directly with the founders and sitting with the in-house legal team to build AI features that cut hours of manual work from their day. The pace is intense, with weeks of 50 to 60 hours or more, and AI coding tools should already be central to how you build.
What you'll do
- Ship complete features yourself: API design, Postgres schemas, and the React UI on top
- Sit with the in-house attorneys, learn how they operate, and remove hours of busywork, with no PM in between
- Rely on coding agents as your main way of producing production code at many times the usual speed
- Develop and refine product features that run on large language models and other ML
- Partner with the founders and outside clients to quickly improve a product where each immigration case carries high stakes
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, leaning backend but comfortable across the stack
- AI-native: agentic coding tools are already part of how you ship every day
- A strong background, such as a top-tier big tech company, a leading startup, or founding a company
- Strong drive and stamina for sustained 50 to 60+ hour weeks
- Experience with Python and FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and React with TypeScript
