JD — the work
About the role
You would join the autonomous haulage team as it expands deployments at mines and quarries in several countries. The systems group is small and influential, integrating self-driving truck systems that already run in production at multiple sites, so your work lands on real vehicles rather than in simulation, and you would be among the first engineers defining how autonomy is rolled out. The role suits someone who is energized by ambiguity, likes starting things from scratch, and has put robots into real-world service.
What you'll do
- Bring autonomy capabilities from early prototype to dependable behavior on production haul trucks, testing and validating along the way
- Own how compute, sensors, software, and networking come together at the system level, and verify it all during testing
- Drive bring-up of new truck models from several major equipment makers, handling calibration, sensor setup, and tuning with hardware teams
- Create release gates, diagnostic tooling, and validation standards that confirm a growing global fleet is production-ready
- Partner with safety, operations, controls, and planning to make autonomous behavior dependable in high-stakes mine settings
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of experience in robotics or autonomy systems engineering
- Proven record of getting robotics systems working on real hardware in the field
- Strong Python and C/C++; the stack also uses NumPy, Redis, Git, and CI/CD
- Comfort with ambiguity and building new systems from scratch
