About the role
You would help build one of the most complete US case-law datasets, which powers the company's AI research platform for lawyers as well as the data it provides to AI model builders and other legal software companies. The work spans enrichment pipelines, scraper reliability, citation tooling, APIs, and evaluation, much of it replacing labeling that incumbents still pay people to do by hand. The team is small, favors straightforward answers to hard problems, and cuts any step that is not needed.
What you'll do
- Build pipelines that tag rulings with metadata, like which decisions overrule others or come from appeals, remands, or consolidations
- Build the systems that keep a large fleet of web scrapers accurate and dependable
- Tune and measure core utilities, such as parsing and resolving citations and mapping which courts can overrule which
- Expose core data services through APIs, MCP servers, and websockets
- Run benchmarks and evals on key tasks using human and synthetic evaluation sets
What they're looking for
- A technical generalist, strong across the backend
- Hands-on with data pipelines plus enough infra and DevOps knowledge to run them
- Strong Python and SQL, the core of the stack
- Can launch a project yourself, end to end, on whatever infrastructure you prefer
- Enthusiastic but clear-eyed about AI tools

- Frontend or full-stack experience on top of backend strength
- Interest or experience in statistics, ML, or AI
