About the role
This backend role builds and scales an AI-driven detection platform that shields a very large user base from account compromise as it happens. You would join a small, highly capable team inside one of the quickest-growing startups in security and take charge of core infrastructure immediately, with platform load expected to grow by one to two orders of magnitude within months. Bay Area staff are in the San Francisco office every weekday.
What you'll do
- Create systems that catch compromised accounts live, from ingesting signals to behavior modeling and AI-based decisions
- Design backend systems ready for ten- to hundredfold more load within about six months
- Put ML-backed systems into real production use, not only demos
- Define engineering conventions and push quality higher across the team
- Shape the central detection engine, the company's main competitive advantage, alongside the founders
What they're looking for
- 3+ years of backend or distributed systems engineering
- Strong backend skills in languages such as TypeScript/Node, Python, Go, Rust, Java, or C++
- Readiness to take charge of core infrastructure on day one in a small team
- Ability to work on-site in San Francisco
