About the role
A senior individual-contributor role on a team of under ten people, building the production Python that lets the company's commercial research agent improve itself. The product is already live with large enterprise customers in finance and is producing measurable gains in their models. The company raised a sizeable seed round and is working toward its Series A, and as an early senior engineer you would help set technical direction and architecture.
What you'll do
- Build and speed up the pipeline that lets the research agent recursively improve itself
- Develop the agentic experiment-search system and the post-training stack for customer-specific models
- Write fast, efficient Python algorithms that cut the runtime of automated research loops
- Turn researchers' experimental ideas into dependable production systems
- Shape architecture and technical choices as one of the earliest senior engineers
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of software engineering, including complex projects you owned from start to finish
- Excellent production Python and a very high bar for code quality
- Ability to operate without hand-holding in a place that competes on how fast it iterates
- Comfort working on-site in San Francisco
