About the role
As the company's first reliability-focused engineer, you would own its infrastructure outright at a young business serving defense, aerospace, and industrial manufacturers. The work is greenfield: charting the move off AWS toward on-prem and air-gapped installs, standing up customer-specific cloud environments, and getting much better signal out of monitoring. It suits someone who picks things up fast, is at ease in restricted, regulated settings, and is willing to make hard architecture calls alone. The team works in person in New York.
What you'll do
- Run all cloud and on-prem infrastructure yourself as the team's sole reliability engineer
- Design how the platform moves off AWS onto customer-hosted and fully offline networks for government and defense clients
- Stand up and support dedicated cloud environments per customer so the multi-tenant platform stays reliable
- Add observability and monitoring that surface real signal and let you get ahead of incidents
- Automate and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and deployment workflows
What they're looking for
- Up to about 4 years of SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure experience
- Hands-on skill with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and AWS, plus exposure to GCP or Azure
- A fast learner who is comfortable in restricted, regulated, or air-gapped environments
- Confidence making difficult architecture decisions on your own
- Willingness to work on-site in New York
