JD — the work
About the role
You would help build the financial rails behind nonprofit giving, a system that already handles billions of dollars, and own what you build from architecture through launch. There are no layers between engineers and the founders and leadership, and your judgment helps decide what gets built as well as how. The team wants engineers with strong technical convictions and clear communication who enjoy a fast pace of whiteboarding, debate, and shipping, on-site in New York.
What you'll do
- Own backend services for the payments platform from first design to running in production
- Weigh in on architecture for infrastructure, services, and APIs and help define engineering standards
- Hash out designs at the whiteboard and through open technical debate with the founders and product team
- Strengthen live monitoring and alerts so the team understands how users behave and can refine the product
- Pick up varied projects throughout the stack, because the team deliberately does not split into separate product silos
What they're looking for
- 2+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience
- Strong technical convictions paired with clear communication
- Comfort working with a lot of autonomy at a quick pace
- Experience with Go or Node, PostgreSQL, and cloud tooling like AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
