JD — the work
About the role
You would join the firm's small quant research and tech group as a full-stack developer, reporting to the person who runs quant research, risk, and software. The job is to keep the existing software and databases that leader built running well, add to them, and improve them, among them the tools behind risk management and quant research, while also creating new tools from the ground up. Finance knowledge helps but is not required; you would build that knowledge over time and take on broader ownership as you go.
What you'll do
- Maintain and extend existing software and databases used for risk and quant research
- Create new internal tools from the ground up for the investment team
- Support portfolio analytics that show the PM and analyst team where the fund is strong or weak
- Build tooling for the fund's risk hedges, such as factor hedges and tailored hedge baskets
- Support research on proprietary signals drawn from alternative and fundamental data
- Bring AI and LLM tooling into each research step, from sourcing ideas through sizing positions
What they're looking for
- 2 to 7 years of experience with a strong full-stack foundation
- Real interest in using software to improve investment research
- An independent, meticulous, and quick working style
- Desire to be part of a tight-knit group and grow into broader ownership
- Experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Python, and AWS
Nice to have
- Existing finance knowledge or interest in markets
- Experience with data pipeline tools such as Airflow
