About the role
You would own and grow the backend behind a radiology service powered by the company's AI copilot, covering ingestion pipelines, distributed inference, and the data warehouse. On a team of about five with no separate SRE function, you would handle reliability and operations as well as building. The company wants a senior, self-directed engineer who has worked at rigorous engineering companies and understands what good infrastructure means at scale, applied to a radiologist shortage that drives misdiagnosis.
What you'll do
- Architect and operate the backend end to end: data intake, storage and querying, and model serving on AWS
- Take charge of uptime, capacity planning, monitoring, and incident debugging, since there is no dedicated SRE team
- Set up build, test, and deploy automation so a small team can release fast without breaking things
- Build HIPAA compliance into anything handling patient health data, including encryption, audit logs, and access control
- Work alongside the ML group on training infrastructure and inference pipelines when priorities call for it
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering at a senior level, ideally 6 or more
- Ability to operate independently without heavy management
- A background at rigorous engineering organizations and a clear bar for infrastructure quality
- Hands-on AWS, Docker, and CI/CD experience, with languages such as Python, Go, TypeScript, or Java
