JD — the work
About the role
You would be responsible for the production platform at a seed-stage identity startup whose founders previously built and sold a company to a major tech firm. The scope covers Kubernetes, data pipelines for identity and security events, cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, and observability, and you'd also write product code across the stack. The team is small and fully remote, gives engineers broad ownership of architecture and execution, and treats security as a design principle from the first line of code.
What you'll do
- Keep production services healthy, along with the Kubernetes controller and reconciler code beneath them
- Build data pipelines for security events and identity data, from ingestion and normalization to storage at scale
- Design resilient, distributed systems that stay available under large enterprise workloads
- Own developer tooling, from CI/CD and local environments to onboarding docs for new engineers
- Run the GCP environment end to end, including its network and storage layers, plus metrics, alerts, and tracing
- Carry the secure-by-design principle into the platform alongside the security engineering team
- Join product and design discussions early and ship code anywhere in the stack
What they're looking for
- 5+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering, writing production Go
- A software engineer at heart with strong platform skills, not a point-and-click DevOps profile
- Owned production Kubernetes clusters and designed and maintained CI/CD pipelines
- GCP or a comparable major cloud, across networking, storage, and compute
- Comfort with early-stage ambiguity and a low-ego, collaborative style
Nice to have
- Early-stage startup experience, or building a platform from zero to one
- Enterprise SaaS background, and a CS degree or comparable hands-on experience
- Hands-on with Postgres, Terraform, PKI, observability tools, or compliance infrastructure
- Identity and access management infrastructure, or work toward SOC 2 and ISO 27001
