About the role
You would join the founding engineering team of a startup whose aim is for AI to take over bookkeeping entirely from human bookkeepers. The company is scaling its product, deepening its financial integrations, and working toward an agent that can do the books with no human involvement, and this is a top-priority hire. The team is made up of startup veterans who favor pragmatic execution, and the role is full-stack, roughly 60% frontend and 40% backend, in person in San Francisco.
What you'll do
- Build and improve AI agents that run bookkeeping workflows end to end for small business customers
- Own integrations with financial providers such as corporate card and payroll platforms, from scoping to production
- Design a ledger from scratch along with the financial data layer beneath it
- Ship features daily across the full TypeScript and Next.js stack
- Talk with pilot customers and the companies you integrate with, and turn their feedback into product decisions
- Own projects with little direction, deciding what needs doing and executing
What they're looking for
- 5+ years of software engineering experience and staff- or principal-level scope
- Strong full-stack skills in TypeScript, Next.js, and Node.js
- Eagerness to design AI-native software starting from a blank page
- Comfort with high ownership and minimal direction
