JD — the work
About the role
The platform team builds the backend APIs and services that other product teams depend on, so your work shapes how data moves across several product lines. Typical projects include a shared API over ad-performance insights and storing metrics from external data providers at large scale. The stack includes Azure, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, and TypeScript, with Node and React. The company is remote-first, but you should live near one of its hubs in Canada or Europe and overlap heavily with Eastern Time working hours.
What you'll do
- Scope, design, and build backend services that are resilient, fast, and well tested
- Ship involved backend features and third-party integrations alongside fellow engineers
- Maintain and extend current integrations so systems keep pace with company growth
- Hunt down errors, performance bottlenecks, and developer-experience pain across the codebase
- Create one shared API over insights data for other teams to consume
- Persist metrics from ad data providers reliably at high volume
What they're looking for
- 6+ years building and running large-scale software applications
- Node.js, TypeScript, and React experience preferred, though adjacent stacks are welcome
- Hands-on depth with async messaging queues and document stores like MongoDB
- Strong data modeling and ETL fundamentals, with a taste for simpler data architecture
- Clear written and spoken communication that ties technical issues to business impact
- Interest in AI/ML and a pragmatic, business-minded approach in a fast-changing setting
