JD — the work
About the role
This is an early-career operations role for a technical person who wants to run complex projects with top AI labs. You would coordinate dataset generation work, lead groups of expert contributors in software, data science, and ML, and build AI-powered tools and scripts that automate daily operations. The pace is demanding and the hours can be long, but the ownership is real, and the role sits between customers, engineering, and research. It is on-site in San Francisco.
What you'll do
- Run dataset projects for top AI research labs, owning timelines and delivery quality
- Use AI coding assistants and scripting to build internal tools that automate workflows
- Manage contributors with backgrounds in ML, data science, and software
- Prepare project briefs, technical documentation, and sample data for customer meetings
- Gather requirements, coordinate testing, and track feature releases with the product team
- Track operating metrics with simple dashboards covering project status and team output
- Improve processes and build systems that let operations scale
What they're looking for
- 0 to 2 years of experience, ideally including founding-engineer work in college or strong software internships
- Comfort with a fast, demanding environment and long hours
- Proven ownership: projects you drove all the way to completion
Nice to have
- A degree in a technical field
- Experience founding something, or leadership roles in notable university organizations
